Board Information
On July 1, 2007, Judith M. Davis was named chairman of the United Way of the Midlands Board of Directors. The board consists of 34 business and community leaders from Richland, Lexington, Fairfield, Newberry, Orangeburg and Calhoun counties.
Davis was chairman of the 2006-2007 United Way of the Midlands campaign that raised $10.9 million dollars. She also serves as the chairman of the board for the South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy and formerly served as president of the board of Trinity Housing Corporation of Columbia. She is also a board member for SC Governors School of Science and Mathematics Foundation, Engenuity Executive Committee, Central Carolina Community Foundation & Women's Studies at USC.
Davis is executive vice president and chief legal officer for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and its Companion companies. She is responsible for managing Companion Property and Casualty Company and Companion Life Insurance Company. In addition, she manages the legal operations, state public affairs, corporate communications and public relations for Blue Cross and its subsidiary companies.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, summa cum laude, from Ohio Northern University in 1981, as a marketing major. She received her JD from the Ohio State University School of Law in 1984. She was admitted to practice law in Ohio and Indiana in 1984 and in South Carolina in 1995. Prior to joining BCBSSC in 1995, Judy practiced law for 11 years with Lincoln National Corporation in Fort Wayne, IN where she specialized in mergers and acquisitions.
