Strategic Restructuring for Nonprofit Organizations: Robert (Bob) Harrington of La Piana Consulting was held at  Colonial Life on Feburary 4, 2010.  The workship described various partnership options available to nonprofits including mergers, joint programming, administrative consolidation, and management service organizations. Bob presented the findings of a landmark study on mergers and alliances in the United States, as well as findings from The Collaboration Prize nominations. The prize was created by the Lodestar Foundation as a project to share effective nonprofit best practice models. He discussed the benefits and challenges of restructuring, as well as the process of assessment, negotiations, and implementation/integration.

Separate sessions were held.   The morning workshop presented information for nonprofit organization management.  The afternoon workship focused the information toward consultants who are working with nonprofit agences.  The powerpoint presentations are available for download.
