Andrea submitted her story about how she LIVES UNITED. Thank you, Andrea!Program Spotlight: Family Service Center Dental Clinic
Many children and adults in South Carolina go without basic dental care every day. These families fall in the gap between being unqualified for Medicaid and unable to purchase insurance. They face the tough decision of whether they should have a dental procedure or put food on their tables. Competing priorities often win out. Fortunately, thanks to programs provided by the Family Service Center and funded by United Way of the Midlands, these families now have a place to go. Family Service Center and United Way of the Midlands work together to fill in the gaps in dental care and provide free dental services for uninsured children and adults in Richland and Lexington counties.
Program Spotlight: Transportation to Health Care Services
Many people are aware of the health insurance crisis facing our community. However, you may not be aware that one of the largest barriers to receiving care is transportation. United Way of the Midlands set out to meet this need by providing a grant to the Free Medical Clinic to provide patients with transportation to health services.
