2011 HOY Nominations

Dear United Way supporters:
Leaders in the Midlands share a collective vision, a vision of a vibrant community where all have the opportunity to live in safety, work productively and contribute in their own ways to the community's vitality.  Together, we strive to make our community better.  When we collectively invest our resources, we have the power to bring about real change right here at home.
Each year, the Palmetto Society, the largest leadership giving society of United Way of the Midlands, selects an individual or couple who has worked to make real change in the Midlands to receive the Humanitarian of the Year Award.  Because of your personal leadership and commitment to our community, we ask you to take an active role in the Humanitarian of the Year Award selection by nominating a person or a couple who have clearly demonstrated extraordinary leadership in philanthropy and volunteerism in the health and human services arena.  Your input and participation are vital to this selection process.  The selection criteria for this award states that the nominee must be:
·         Outstanding in providing leadership and working with others over a sustained period;
·         Inspirational in encouraging others to work hard to help others;
·         A change agent whose actions have a major impact on changing and improving  lives;
·         Creative and innovative use of resources  to serve the community;
·         Committed to the voluntary system of human service;
·         An investor in the community through the United Way process and its network of human service agencies.
Please complete and return the online nomination form for the 2011 Humanitarian of the Year  no later than September 15, 2011. You may also submit a paper form by downloading this file. Nominations will be carefully reviewed by the selection committee and the recipient will be honored in early 2011 at the Humanitarian of the Year dinner. On behalf of the Selection Committee, thank you for your participation in this process.
Sincerely,
Sam Baxter, NBSC
