My name is Mary Allen. I’m a graduate student pursuing a degree in social work, but I’m also a volunteer. I work with the Midlands Reading Consortium (MRC) to help children read at grade level. Both of these experiences have opened my eyes to the problems facing the Midlands community, specifically those dealing with education and literacy.
