For 100 years, United Way of the Midlands has helped meet the area’s most pressing needs. Explore our impact—and join us as we embark on another century of service.

A Century of Impact

We make our community stronger—together.

100 years of United Way of the Midlands means 100 years of showing up for our community. It means a century of standing with our neighbors in moments of hardship, helping children dream bigger, families find stability, and communities grow stronger.

For United Way of the Midlands, 100 years is more than a milestone. It is a legacy of action. And it’s proof that when people come together to give, advocate, and serve, real change happens. So, we’re not just looking back. We’re focused on creating a brighter tomorrow for everyone in our region. Help us make that a reality.

A mural, titled Deeply Rooted, was created by artists Ricardo and Emily Ramirez of Octopus Ink Creative in honor of our centennial year, and reflects a century of impact made possible by the generosity of donors, dedication of volunteers, and strength of community partnerships. The artwork symbolizes United Way’s deep roots established in our region from its inception as the Community Chest to what it has grown into today. The mural includes a panel for each of the six counties we serve depicted by recognizable landmarks or symbols of what each community is known for.

“As muralists, we’re always thinking about how art can transform a space. With this piece, it was important that the wall did more than just look good. It had to tell the story of United Way’s mission and reflect the people in the community. We hope it inspires others to think about how they can create positive change where they live.”
