WellPartners Dental and Eye Clinics receive Prisma Health grants totaling $345,000

COLUMBIA, S.C. (February 2, 2020) – United Way of the Midlands’ WellPartners Dental and Eye Clinics recently received two Prisma Health grants totaling $345,000 to support the continuation of clinic services.

WellPartners offers dental and eye care services that provide preventative and restorative care to uninsured and underinsured children and adults in the Midlands. WellPartners is owned and operated by United Way of the Midlands with additional support from community partners, including Lexington County, Lexington Medical Center, Prisma Health and Richland County.

"Prisma Health is proud to collaborate with the United Way of the Midlands and WellPartners to support dental and eye care in our communities,” said Vince Ford, Prisma Health senior vice president, community affairs. “These services make an impact on the long-term wellness of children and adults who face healthcare access challenges.”

In the 2019-2020 fiscal year, WellPartners Dental Clinics provided patient visits to more than 3,000 adults and nearly 700 children from Fairfield, Lexington and Richland counties totaling an in-kind value of about $1.75 million. Eye care services were provided for more than 1,800 patient visits.

“Access to dental services and eye care for families is an integral part of overall health,” said Tamara Stockton, DDS, MAGD. “We know untreated oral health problems can lead to serious health complications. It’s the continued support from partners like Prisma Health that helps us.”
