United Way of the Midlands and Peter Buffett Accelerate Community Change with Special Concert in Columbia This Fall

Columbia, SC (September 19, 2019) – United Way the Midlands is rallying community members to work together in new ways to solve complex social issues by hosting

A Concert & Conversation with Peter Buffett, son of investor Warren Buffett, in Columbia, S.C. on Tuesday, October 22 at 7 p.m. at the Columbia Museum of Art. The event is free and open to the public, however, space is limited and registration is required at uway.org/future.

United Way is partnering with Peter Buffett, musician and philanthropist, as part United for the Future, a cross-country event to ignite new thinking and energy around community issues.

“We’re excited to welcome Peter to the Midlands and South Carolina, and we hope this unique opportunity will inspire new donors, new volunteers and new, creative ideas to transform our community into a place where everyone has a chance to reach their full potential,” said Sara Fawcett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands.

United Way has years of experience galvanizing people and organizations to find solutions to the toughest problems, and we continue to engage more and more individuals – of all ages, races, genders, political affiliations and backgrounds. Girls’ and women’s rights, community-led change, equity and justice are especially important to Buffett, which makes this an ideal partnership and opportune time to spark new ideas and momentum for community transformation.

“We can accomplish much more together than any of us can alone, and I am looking forward to listening to the conversations during Peter’s visit with some of the Midlands’ most passionate advocates and supporters,” said Fawcett. “This event will be a catalyst for increasing engagement around our community’s most daunting social issues.”

The concert is part of United Way of the Midlands’ efforts to work with community partners to engage more people more deeply in building a stronger community. Through A Concert & Conversation with Peter Buffett, United Way of the Midlands is ensuring individuals are engaged and lending their voices and perspective to strengthen communities.

Space is limited, so remember to reserve your seat and learn more about the event or United Way’s community impact programs, uway.org/future.
